For those venturing further afield taking the spectacular coastal drive from Greymouth to Wesport makes the journey as exciting as the destination. It has been listed as one of the top 10 coastal drives in the world by Lonely Planet for its breathtaking splendour.

A few of the other places worth a visit on the West Coast are the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes, Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers, and the West Coast Tree Tops Walkway in Hokitika.
