The National Kiwi Centre
The National Kiwi Centre is situated in the heart of Hokitika in an undercover facility that provides viewing of kiwi in our nocturnal house that replicates their natural environment.
During your visit you can take part in hand feeding the giant eels (10am, 12 noon and 3pm daily). These HUGE eels are approximately 85 to 100 years old and have to be seen to be believed.
You can also view the tuatara, New Zealand's oldest living dinosaur.
This is a rare chance to view our national icon up close and personal in an award winning, natural environment. Highly recommended for both children and adults alike, and an attraction not to be missed.
Allow approximately 1 hour to see and appreciate all the Kiwi Centre has to offer.
